On January 11, 2018, international law firm DLA Piper announced that it has appointed Jessica Tien as a principal economist in Silicon Valley.
Tien focuses on the planning and implementation of transfer pricing structures designed to achieve long-term business objectives while meeting transfer pricing compliance requirements. She has successfully concluded a number of supply chain planning projects advising on domestic and cross-border, inter-company transactions flows and associated transfer pricing arrangements.
Tien has in-depth knowledge of China’s tax administrations, both at the municipal and headquarters level of the State Administration of Taxation. Tien has successfully concluded a number of high-profile tax audits and advance pricing agreements on cross-border transfer pricing issues.
Prior to joining DLA Piper, Tien was a partner at Ernst & Young LLP in San Francisco and in Ernst & Young’s member firm in China.
Sang Kim, Chair of the US tax practice and Managing Partner of the firm’s Northern California offices, said: “Jessica is deeply experienced in the planning and controversy management for inter-company transactions between China and the US. With her global perspective, Jessica will add enormously to DLA Piper’s continued commitment to deliver services that meet the legal and business needs of our clients.”
