Paulus Merks Joins Houthoff as Tax Partner

In a major expansion drive, Dutch law firm Houthoff has welcomed Paulus Merks as a new partner in the tax team.

Merks advises on M&A transactions, restructurings, reorganisations, public offerings, and transfer pricing. Merks regularly advises US and other non-Dutch companies on how best to structure their worldwide operations and acquisitions.

Merks previously worked as a tax lawyer in New York, Paris, Chicago, and San Jose (California).

Houthoff’s tax team is expected to have 30 advisers by the end of the year, doubling its current size. In November last year, the firm welcomed Peter Josten as a tax partner.

Edward de Bock, managing partner at Houthoff, commented: “Adding these new faces means a stronger market position for our tax team. With specialists in every discipline of tax law, we can further improve our services to our clients.”
